Marni Long V-Neck Cashmere Cardigan in Cream

Marnicardigan We sometimes find our fantasies overwhelming. Why we have odd style obsessions we have never been able to determine and yet somehow we find ourselves entranced by a cardigan that retails for a thousand dollars.  This Marni Long V-Neck Cashmere Cardigan in Cream is the stuff dreams are made of and even on sale at $500 or so dollars we think we should continue to dream. We can technically afford it but really is it wise?

Mayle Rosetta Cardigan

Image of A Gray Knitted Mayle Rosetta Gray Cardigan The line between matron and fashion maven is slim these days with grandmother knitwear taking on avant garde appreciators. We like to think of it as the Calender Girl's Affect. An otherwise humdrum country pastime like baking, gardening, watercolors or in this case knitting becomes just a little bit sexier when you take off a few articles of clothing.

We think this Mayle Rosetta Cardigan is a perfect example. But the little bow says Nana but remove an layer underneath and suddenly it says naughty.

Nanette Lepore Striped Jacket

Image of Nanette Lepore Striped Jacket Everyone, or no one, is a bitch anymore these days and apparently we are all pathetic mealy mouthed hypocrites in our attempts in either direction. A real bitch doesn't cloth her comments in concern, consideration, or even envy. She has no need for those qualifiers to let loose her tongue as a true bitch is always superior.

Perhaps this thesis is what lead us to this olive with brown trim Nanette Lepore Striped Jacket. It seems like the sort of jacket a woman who plays at being a lady would wear. But remember Bette Davis's words.

Why am I so good at playing bitches? I think it's because I'm not a bitch. Maybe that's why Miss Crawford always plays ladies - Bette Davis

Rick Owens Shearling Lining Biker Jacket

Image of Rick Owens Shearling Lining Biker Jacket Sinclair Lewis said that "Winter is not a season, it's an occupation." But for those of us who prefer our lives be a little less Babbitt and a little more "On The Road" while still keeping warm there is this Rick Owens Shearling Lining Biker Jacket.

But you better be fairly well occupied, or should we say employed, in order to afford this beauty's three thousand dollar price tag. We suppose there is no escaping the man now is there?

Humanoid Leg Warmers

Legwarmers We must have ballet on our mind today after our post about Lacoste Ballet Flats earlier. But these Humanoid Leg Warmers just caught our eye. And while we are having one heck of an 80s flashback these days the idea of $85 leg warmers makes us wonder.

What people won't do for fashion. Though we admit we are having some serious cold weather back home and these might make us a lot warmer.

CLU Short Sleeve Bubble Dress

Cluebubbledress Fops and Dandies reminded us of the simple joys of the pastoral romance today. Daphnis and Chloe is a beautiful Greek tale of two innocent shepherds discovering love, physical and emotional, as they reach maturity. It is often regarded as the first novel as the West emerged from classical antiquity. That calm nativity makes dresses like CLU Short Sleeve Bubble Dress take on a sweeter tone. In a world without saccharine story arcs and dark undertones this dress simply makes sense and over thinking it will only lead to  uncertainty. And as we learn from Daphnis and Chloe being certain in one's love is key.

Antik Batik Erin Gold Sequin Mini Dress

Antibatikerinminidress We lovingly remember our mother's corporate wife wardrobes from the 80's. Nothing said formal power dressing at evening functions like sequins. Busting out the colored sequins meant you were going to a real high class event. Now we reinterpret this trend for ironic formal wear. And as much as we think irony is overdone this Antik Batik Erin Gold Sequin Mini Dress elicits a smile from us.

Cece Black Long V-Neck Cashmere Cardigan

The cardigan apparently originated with James Brudenell The 7th Earl of Cardigan. He led the Charge of the Light Brigade into battle during the Crimean War. The long sleeved knitted worsted military jacket his army officers wore was trimmed with fur or braid down the front. This style later become the functional knitted garment we know today with a buttoned and occasionally trimmed front and long sleeves.

We love this Cece Black Long V-Neck Cashmere Cardigan as a simple black cardigan with a wealth of wardrobe versatility. We can't totally vouch for its lack of pilling but its as good a basic as you will find.

Theory Dorianna Wide Leg Stretch Wool Trousers

Image of Theory Dorianna Wide Leg Stretch Black Wool Trousers Dresses have stolen the limelight in recent seasons but the basic black wool pant is still standard issue for publicists everywhere. The door girls or even The "women in black" are meant to blend in while still maintaining an aura of appropriate cool. Not entirely unlike the urban legend of the men in black but with much better wardrobes. So if you need to comfortably blend in at a function but still look as if you belong this Theory Dorianna Wide Leg Stretch Wool Trousers may do the job.

Classic, clean, tailored and wool. Everything a girl could ask for in a pair of black pants. Don't worry, if you need to stand out just add a great accessory or fantastic heels.

Go Speed Racer Go! Dress Like Speed Racer

We are excited for the Wachowski Brother's live action Speed Racer movie. Speed was always the dapper man so it stands to reason we can learn a thing or two about style from him!
